Course Objectives
The program teaches organizational leadership skills through the lens of sustainability. This full course equips participants to drive high-impact global sustainable results for their companies, organizations, and communities through their own careers.
Course Content
Introduction to sustainable development – understanding sustainability and sustainable development
Contemporary sustainable development – sustainable agriculture, tourism, communities.
Sustainable development and the environment
Climate change – social and climatic vulnerability
Drought cycle management - preparedness, early warning system (EWS), emergency operations, re-construction, drought mitigation measures.
Sustainable development and projects management
Leadership for sustainable development – “knowing the way, showing the way and going the way".
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
Explain how sustainability relates to their lives and their values, and how their actions impact issues of sustainability.
Understand the link between the environment and economic growth.
Apply concepts of sustainability nationally and globally by engaging in the challenges and the solutions of sustainability in a world context.
Inform, reform and transform their knowledge of sustainability to change their thinking, attitudes and those of people they lead, so that they also transform their own communities.
Target Group
Civil Society Organization leaders/managers and sustainable development activists.
